CONSTRUCTIVISM IN TEACHING AND LEARNING: WHAT ARE TEACHER EDUCATORS’ PERCEPTIONS?

The present study was conducted to know the teacher educators’ perceptions towards the constructivist approach. To collect the data, a self-constructed tool (Perceptions of teachers towards Constructivist approach scale) was administered on a sample of 150 teacher educators of government and private teacher education Institutions of District Aligarh of U.P. The obtained data were analyzed by using Percentage, t-test, and 2X2 Factorial Design ANOVA. This study revealed that teacher educators of the government Institutions have better Perceptions towards the constructivist approach than their private Institutions counterparts. Whereas female teacher educators of the government Institutions have very good perceptions towards the constructivist approach in comparison to their male counterparts. Further, this study also revealed that there is a significant main effect of gender and types of Institutions on perceptions of teacher educators, but there is no significant effect of interaction between gender and types of Institutions on perceptions of teacher educators towards the constructivist approach.
