Employing a descriptive design, this study determines the level of writing composition skills among Education students in terms of structure, grammar and mechanics when taken as a whole and grouped according to sex, age and exposure to mass media; and if there is a significant difference in the writing skills in each of the categories when students are grouped according to profile variables. The study revealed that majority of the respondents were exposed to news. Those aged 19 years and above, female, and those using Facebook got very low in structure. Significant difference exists between younger respondents and the level of writing skills, and also between exposure to social media and the level of writing skills. This study recommends that those teaching writing composition may give attention on structure and be creative in their manner of delivering instruction to enhance the writing composition skill of Education students while considering the results in developing a module focusing on the writing genre.
