FACTORS INFLUENCING THE LEARNING OF POPULATION IN HATYAI MUNICIPALITY AFFECTED BY THE PANDEMIC OF CORONAVIRUS 2019 (COVID-19)

The objectives of this research study were 1) To study Personal Factor and COVID-19 Understanding Factor from the Public Health Agencies toward Learning Behaviors of COVID-19 Prevention; 2) To study the correlation between Personal Factor, COVID-19 Understanding Factors, and COVID-19 Information and Supports Accessibility Factor from the public health agencies toward Learning Behaviors of COVID-19 Prevention 3) To study the Learning Behavior of COVID-19 Prevention and the Impact on Quality of Life in terms of Economic, Social, Physical Aspect, Psychological Aspect, and Environment; 4) To obtain suggestions and recommendations on Learning Behaviors of COVID-19 Prevention from the population in Hatyai, Songkhla. The sample group consisted of 300 participants via Convenience Random Sampling Method. The data was collected as an Online Survey (Google Form) using the Line Application delivery method under a two-month timeframe. The research team had developed the research instrument with content validity scores between 0.67-1.00 and 0.93 in the Alpha coefficient reliability score of Cronbach. The data was analyzed using the following statistics: percentage, mean, standard deviation, minimum value, maximum value, correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The results revealed the following information.

  • Most of the participants are knowledgeable about the Coronavirus 2019 at a High level (74.80%). The Factor of COVID-19 Information and Supports Accessibility from the Public Health Agencies are medium-level (x̄ = 3.62).
  • The Personal occupational Factor influences the Learning Behavior of COVID-19 Prevention at the highest level with a weight value of 5.94.
  • The Factor of COVID-19 Information and Supports Accessibility and COVID-19 Understanding Factor both influence the Learning Behavior of COVID-19 Prevention with weight values of .280 and .038, respectively.
  • COVID-19 Understanding Factor, COVID-19 Information and Supports Accessibility Factor, and Learning Behavior are positively correlated with the Impact on Quality of Life at the lowest level (r=.062), medium level (r = .446), and a low level (r = .276).
  • Learning Behavior of COVID-19 Prevention directly impacted the Quality of Life in terms of Economic, Social, Physical Aspect, Psychological Aspect, and Environment.
  • The suggestions and recommendations from this research study revealed that Public Health Agencies need to continuously inform and educate the public about the Coronavirus 2019, the precautions and Prevention of the COVID-19, and the Impact of the COVID-19 on the Quality of life of the population. More importantly, the governmental agencies must consider the recovery plans for psychological distress and economic crises from the COVID-19 situation.
